A bit of history
The hotel baths with a 12 × 25 m pool and a three-metre diving tower (original depth 0.90–3.50 m) were built in response to the growing popularity of this building type in the 1930s, when open-air pools were increasingly replaced by indoor “swimming gyms”.
Building a hotel swimming pool in the city centre, together with replacing the once common bath tubs with showers, can be seen as a deliberate move by the builder and entrepreneur Václav Pilec.
Today the pool serves both school and pre-school children’s lessons in reserved hours, and the general public.
